The Opportunity
This is a permanent staff RN position on a 45-bed Renal Vascular unit at a 523-bed, full-service acute care hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Nine openings are available across both day and night shifts. The unit runs at genuine volume — 7:1 nurse-to-patient ratios, a high-acuity census, and the kind of clinical exposure that moves careers forward. Whether you're building toward a charge role, a specialty certification, or an advanced practice pathway, this unit gives you the case mix to get there.
Sign On Bonus: $10,000. Relocation assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis. The benefits package is substantial: comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with 100% employer match on 3–9% of pay based on years of service; an employee stock purchase plan with a 10% discount; education assistance covering tuition and student loans; paid time off and paid family leave; fertility and adoption support; and access to free counseling services. This is a system that takes benefits seriously, and it shows in the details.
To qualify, you need an active Florida RN license or a compact RN license — compact holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation. A minimum of one year of RN experience is required, and any clinical setting qualifies. An ASN or Nursing Diploma meets the education requirement; BSN is preferred. BLS (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification must be in hand prior to your start date. Candidates must be comfortable working a 7:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and must live within commutable distance of the facility. Even if an initial virtual interview is completed, an in-person visit — including a facility tour and administration interview — is required before any offer is extended.

The Package
Why Gainesville?
Gainesville sits at the heart of North Central Florida, about 70 miles southwest of Jacksonville and roughly 120 miles north of Orlando. The city carries more energy than its size suggests — anchored by the University of Florida, it draws a younger demographic, a thriving arts and music scene, and a restaurant culture that consistently surprises newcomers. Cost of living runs well below both the state and national averages, and Florida's lack of a state income tax means your paycheck stretches further here than in most comparable markets. Housing is accessible, with neighborhoods that run the full range — walkable corridors near the university, quiet suburban streets with strong schools, and larger lots farther out for those who want space.
What makes Gainesville genuinely worth considering for a long-term move is the outdoor access. The region is home to some of the most visited natural springs in the state — Ichetucknee Springs, Ginnie Springs, and Devil's Den are all within an hour's drive. Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park sits just south of the city and offers hiking, birdwatching, and open flatlands that look unlike anything else in Florida. The climate is warm most of the year, with mild winters and both Gulf and Atlantic coastlines reachable within two hours. For families evaluating a relocation, the combination of affordable housing, quality schools, and proximity to major medical infrastructure makes Gainesville a practical and genuinely appealing place to put down roots.
