The Opportunity
If you have built your career around high-acuity nursing and you are ready to step into a leadership role with real operational scope, this position belongs on your radar. A Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center on the New Hampshire Seacoast is looking for an RN Manager to lead a 23-bed progressive neuro/trauma care unit. The patient mix is complex and clinical leadership here genuinely matters — strokes, craniotomies, brain bleeds, altered mental status, multi-system trauma from falls and accidents. This is the kind of unit where what you do as a manager shapes outcomes directly, every shift.
One opening is available, full time, day shift, Monday through Friday with no weekends. The schedule is stable and predictable — a real differentiator for anyone who has spent years absorbing the demands of rotating shifts and variable hours. This is a permanent placement, not a contract or interim role.
The organization is well-resourced and mission-driven. You will work alongside department directors, clinical educators, and resource nurses in a structure built to support your growth rather than simply fill a vacancy. This facility has earned rare regional distinction for both trauma and stroke care, and the team reflects that — experienced, accountable, and focused on continuous improvement. Compensation is competitive based on experience.
To be considered, candidates must hold a current RN license — New Hampshire or compact state — along with BLS and ACLS certification, or the ability to obtain both within 30 days of hire. A Bachelor's Degree is required. The ideal candidate brings at least one year of nursing leadership experience at the coordinator, manager, or higher level. Critical care background is preferred. The facility will also consider strong charge nurses with five or more years of tenure in a neuro or trauma environment who are ready to make the move into formal management.
If this role aligns with where you are in your career or where you are working toward, reach out now. One position, a stable schedule, and a clinical environment that will sharpen your leadership for whatever comes next. A five-minute conversation is all it takes to find out if this is the right fit.

The Package
Why Portsmouth?
Portsmouth, New Hampshire sits at the mouth of the Piscataqua River on the Atlantic coast, and it consistently ranks among the most livable small cities in New England — for good reason. The downtown is walkable and genuinely vibrant, with a restaurant and craft brewery scene that rivals cities three times its size. Historic architecture lines the streets of the South End, and summer brings waterfront activity from kayaking to sailing alongside a full calendar of outdoor festivals and events. Winters are manageable relative to much of the region. New Hampshire has no state income tax, which means more of your earnings stay with you — a tangible financial advantage that compounds meaningfully over time.
The location puts you within reach of everything the region has to offer. Boston is roughly an hour south by car or commuter rail, with all the professional, cultural, and entertainment options a major metro brings. The White Mountains are about two hours north, a year-round destination for hiking, skiing, and fall foliage that draws outdoor enthusiasts from across the country. Maine's coast begins just across the bridge in Kittery, opening access to the Kennebunks, Portland, and Acadia beyond. School quality throughout the Seacoast region is strong, and the communities surrounding Portsmouth — Exeter, Newmarket, Stratham, Hampton — offer everything from quiet suburban neighborhoods to working waterfront character. This is a corner of the country where careers are built and people consistently choose to stay.
