    PCU RN

Fort Walton Beach, Florida Permanent Nights / Rotating Weekends

    The Opportunity

Fort Walton Beach is home to a 267-bed acute care facility running one of the most comprehensive service lines on the Gulf Coast — open-heart surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, a Cancer Care Center, a pediatric emergency department, and dual freestanding ERs. For a PCU RN who wants real acuity and the kind of clinical breadth that builds a meaningful record, this environment delivers. Two permanent staff positions are open on the Progressive Care Unit.

Shifts are nights with rotating weekends. Both roles are full-time, direct-hire placements. Relocation assistance is negotiable. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, and behavioral health coverage; paid time off and paid family leave; a 401(k) with a 100% match on 3–9% of pay based on years of service; an Employee Stock Purchase Plan; tuition assistance through a nursing college partnership; and free wellbeing counseling services. Compensation is competitive based on experience.

Candidates must hold a current RN license and bring a minimum of two years of acute care PCU experience. An Associate Degree is the minimum education requirement. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 90 days. Strong documentation skills, comfort with cardiac monitoring, and experience managing medications and post-operative patients are central to the role.

If this is the acuity level and career stability you have been looking for, apply now or book a confidential five-minute call.

    Why Fort Walton Beach?

Fort Walton Beach runs along Florida's Emerald Coast — clear, warm Gulf water, white quartz sand beaches, and a pace of life that holds up in every season. Winters are short and mild. Summers are active, but the region has the infrastructure to handle it, and the people who stay year-round know exactly what they have. This is not a resort town that empties out. It is a community with deep roots and a settled quality of life that is genuinely difficult to replicate.

The area sits at the edge of Eglin Air Force Base, which anchors the local economy and keeps it stable regardless of broader market swings. Housing is affordable by Florida standards, and the school ratings are strong — a meaningful factor for anyone moving with a family. Outdoor recreation runs twelve months a year: fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, hiking through Eglin's vast forest tracts, and easy day trips to Destin or the backwaters of Choctawhatchee Bay. The dining scene has expanded well beyond its seafood roots. And Florida has no state income tax, which changes the calculation on compensation in ways that matter. For a nurse weighing competing markets, this one lands differently than most.
