    Director, Hospital Development

Tampa, Florida Permanent Full-Time, On-site | Extended Hours | Travel Required

    The Opportunity

This is a rare Director-level opportunity in the organ and tissue donation space — one of the more consequential corners of healthcare that exists. As Director of Hospital Development, you will carry Foundation-wide oversight of hospital development operations, shaping how a 700-person mission-driven organization grows its donation program across multiple states and U.S. territories. If you have been building toward a role with real organizational weight and a direct line to executive leadership, this is it.

One opening is available. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Tampa, Florida. The schedule reflects the nature of the work — extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends are part of the role, and regular local, statewide, and out-of-state travel is expected. You will operate at a senior level with accountability for fiscal year budgets, QAPI oversight, national initiative involvement, regulatory compliance, and advisory board participation. Day to day, that means managing a team of Hospital Development Managers and Supervisors, directing liaison training programs, and reporting outcomes directly to executive leadership.

The organization invests in the people who join. Benefits include company-paid medical, dental, disability, and life insurance — fully employer-funded, not a shared cost arrangement. A company-funded pension plan handles retirement without requiring employee matching. Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays are included. This is a place built for people who intend to stay. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Compensation is competitive based on experience.

To be considered, candidates should bring a minimum of three years of Hospital Development Manager experience — or a closely comparable background with demonstrated proficiency across program management, staff coaching, physician education, customer service, and leadership. A four-year degree in marketing, social work, or a related field combined with four or more years of management-level healthcare experience is also a qualifying path. Strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills are required. You should be comfortable managing field staff, owning a departmental budget, and maintaining open communication with executive leadership. Reliable transportation, a valid state driver's license, and the ability to travel by air locally and nationally are required.

    Why Tampa?

Tampa sits on Florida's Gulf Coast with a personality most people do not expect until they actually live there. The city has grown steadily without losing the approachability that makes it worth staying in long-term. Ybor City brings a historic, brick-and-mortar energy — genuine restaurants, weekend markets, and a music scene that holds its own. The Riverwalk stretches along the Hillsborough River, connecting neighborhoods and green space in a way that makes getting outside feel easy rather than planned. Professional sports, a growing arts district, and a well-connected international airport round out the infrastructure of a city that simply functions well.

The Gulf beaches are close — St. Pete and Clearwater are under an hour, and the water is genuinely warm and clear for most of the year. Winters are mild and short, which matters if you are coming from somewhere that is neither. For families, Hillsborough County offers a strong range of public and private school options, with suburban neighborhoods that commute well to downtown. Florida carries no state income tax, and that advantage compounds over time in a way that becomes more apparent the longer you live here. Housing costs remain lower than coastal metros of comparable size, and the combination of salary stretch, outdoor access, and urban amenity has made Tampa one of the more practical choices for healthcare professionals making a career-driven relocation.
