The Opportunity
Cardiovascular progressive care needs leaders who understand what happens at the intersection of high acuity and operational complexity. This Nurse Manager role puts you in charge of a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit — a busy, demanding environment where the quality of clinical leadership shows up in outcomes every single day. If you have a cardiovascular or post-cardiothoracic background and you are ready to step into — or advance within — formal unit leadership, this position belongs on your radar.
This is a permanent, full-time placement with one opening. As the unit manager, you will own the 24/7 clinical operations of the CPCU, overseeing a team of approximately 56 employees. Your scope covers resource allocation, staff scheduling, regulatory compliance, and the integration of evidence-based practices across the unit. This is a working leadership role — direct accountability for unit performance, staff development, and patient care standards.
The organization is well-resourced, regionally significant, and backed by a national health system infrastructure that provides genuine career development pathways and the clinical support that complex cardiovascular care demands. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. A competitive benefits package is included, covering the full scope expected from a major health system employer.
Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing or a valid enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact license. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; a Master's degree is preferred. BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required at hire. National certification in a leadership or relevant clinical specialty must be obtained within one year of hire. A minimum of five years of recent nursing experience is required, with at least two years in a relevant acute hospital setting. A background in post-cardiothoracic or cardiovascular care is required. Prior leadership experience at the Charge Nurse or Supervisor level is expected.
One position, one of the region's most respected cardiovascular programs, and a leadership platform that can move your career in the direction you have been working toward. If your background matches what is described here, reach out now. Schedule a confidential call and let's talk through whether this is the right fit.

The Package
Why Asheville?
Asheville, North Carolina has a way of catching people off guard. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the far western corner of the state, it is a mid-sized city with the kind of cultural weight that usually belongs to places twice its size. The downtown is genuinely walkable — galleries, independent restaurants, craft breweries, live music, and one of the most recognized arts scenes in the American South. The food and drink culture here is not manufactured for tourists; it grew organically over decades and it is the real thing. The outdoor recreation is world-class. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through the area, offering year-round access to hiking, cycling, and sweeping mountain views. Whitewater kayaking on the French Broad and Nantahala Rivers draws serious paddlers from across the region. The climate is mild by mountain standards — four distinct seasons without the harshness of higher-elevation areas.
Families find a great deal here as well. School systems in and around Asheville are solid, and the surrounding communities — Weaverville, Arden, Black Mountain, Swannanoa — offer everything from small-town quiet to suburban convenience within a short drive of the city. Cost of living remains more reasonable than most comparable destination cities, which makes the combination of lifestyle and career opportunity genuinely compelling. Asheville Regional Airport provides convenient access to major hubs, keeping travel manageable while the city itself still feels like a place apart from the pace and density of larger metro areas. People who come for a role here tend to build a life and stay.
