The Opportunity
This is a staff-level Cardiac Med-Surg RN position at a 238-bed acute care facility on Florida's Gulf Coast. The clinical scope here is real — advanced cardiac assessment and treatment, Primary PCI capabilities, Advanced Primary Stroke Care certification, a Level III NICU, and the only Pediatric ER in the region. If you want a floor where your acute care skills are consistently put to use, this is the kind of environment that builds careers rather than just filling shifts.
One permanent opening available. Both days and nights are on the table — 7a to 7p days and 7p to 7a nights, with rotating weekend coverage for both. Nurse-to-patient ratio holds at 6:1. Relocation assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis.
The benefits package is comprehensive. Medical coverage includes prescription and behavioral health, plus free telemedicine and medical transport. Dental and vision options are available. The 401(k) carries a 100% employer match on 3 to 9 percent of pay based on years of service. Additional programs include tuition and student loan assistance, paid family leave, employee stock purchase plan, consumer discounts, and an Employee Health Assistance Fund offering free coverage to eligible colleagues. Compensation is competitive based on experience.
Candidates must hold a Florida RN license or an approved multistate compact license. Compact holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation. Current acute care RN experience is required — within the last three years for most candidates, or within the last five years for those with an extensive nursing background. BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. An Associate Degree is the minimum education requirement; BSN is preferred.

The Package
Why Panama City?
Panama City sits on Florida's Gulf Coast Panhandle, where the pace is slower, the water is warm, and the beaches actually live up to the reputation. Pristine white sand, clear emerald-green water, and a coastline that runs for miles — it is the kind of place that makes it genuinely easy to decompress after a demanding shift. The cost of living is reasonable by Florida standards, and the state's lack of income tax means your paycheck goes further here than it would in most comparable markets. Outdoor recreation is everywhere — boating, fishing, paddleboarding, and hiking through the area's natural preserves give residents a lifestyle that is hard to replicate elsewhere.
Beyond the beach, Panama City is a real community. It has the schools, the neighborhoods, and the local character that make it a solid place to plant roots — not just a vacation destination. Families are well-served by the area's public and private school options, and the region has grown steadily following its post-hurricane rebuild, bringing new investment and infrastructure along with it. Highway access makes day trips to Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Destin straightforward. For nurses who want an outdoors-oriented lifestyle without sacrificing access to serious clinical work, Panama City checks the boxes.
